Tutoring

You may tutor one or more children, but please try to be as consistent as possible with this ministry. The first step is to go to the school office and let them know you would like to tutor. If you presently have a relationship with a teacher or student, you may request to tutor in that classroom. If not, the office will assign you to a classroom, and the teacher will assign you to a student or students. There is a great need for readers at McDonnell Elementary.

Adopt a Classroom

This is an opportunity to meet the needs of a specific classroom and may include classroom parties, purchasing supplies, etc. This ministry flows best through a Life Group because some of the responsibilities may be too great for one person to handle. If you are not in a Life Group, we do not discourage you from adopting this ministry, but you may want to walk in a community of others.

English as a Second Language (ESL)

This ministry is focused on teaching the Spanish-speaking parents of McDonnell students the English language. Classes this year are to be determined.

School Supply Drive

The drive takes place in July each year. The church comes together to raise money and school supplies for the children of McDonnell who cannot afford them.

Fall Festival

This event takes place each October, usually on a Saturday. Fall Festival is for the children of McDonnell and includes games and festivities.

Donuts in December

This ministry takes place every Friday morning in December until Christmas break. We deliver six to eight-dozen donuts to the McDonnell school office.

Teacher Appreciation

We provide two separate teacher appreciation luncheons per school year - one in December and one in May - as well as encouragement opportunities throughout the year to McDonnell teachers and administration. Life groups at Life’s Journey are encouraged to adopt this ministry!
